TESTIMONIALS

Indigenous Cultural Awareness Workshops

I provide three workshops,  Which the overall intent of the Aboriginal Cultural Awareness is to introduce concepts of cultural differences, to provide relevant information regarding First Nations and to share the knowledge and experience with attendees.
This is just a quick snap shot of the things to be considered when discussing Indigenous topics.
Please contact for more information.

Residential Schools: Canada’s National Tragedy Workshop

This workshop is just a quick overview of things to be considered when discussing IRS.  For over 150 years First Nations, Inuit and Métis Nation children were taken from their families and communities to attend schools which were often located far from their homes. More than 150,000 children attended Indian Residential Schools. Many never returned.
Please contact for more information.

Truth & Reconcili "ACTION" Workshop

I also,  provide a workshop on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. It was active in Canada from 2008 to 2015, organized by the parties of the Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement. The TRC’s mandate was to inform all Canadians about what happened in residential schools.
With the new resurgence of Indigenous culture and unmarked graves coming into focus, Indigenous people are coming together to express the need for change. Economic reconciliation, including involvement in resource projects, is essential to support those changes.

RAISE - Recognize, Assist, Include, Support & Engage Indigenous people

Indigenous awareness is essential for newcomers to Canada as it provides a crucial foundation for understanding the historical and cultural context of the country and prepares them to interact and integrate into the multicultural Canadian society.

Canada InfoNet hosted a webinar delivered by me where participants gained insights into colonial events that significantly impacted Indigenous lives, and appropriate terminology for different situations. Additionally, participants discovered actionable steps to foster inclusivity and appreciation for Indigenous cultures in contemporary contexts.

This was a fantastic opportunity for newcomers preparing for employment in Canada to broaden their cultural horizons and contribute to building a more inclusive society.

Indigenous people of Canada, culture & general learning

Basic awareness 101

Introduction to First Nations people: any learning activity that provides a broad overview of First Nations people in Canada. Learners should be able to explain who a First Nations person is and, in broad terms, the difference between status First Nations and non-status First Nations identity, as well as their distinction from Inuit and Métis people, and across First Nations throughout Canada.

I specifically have an academic background in Indigenous Government Studies and BA in First Nations Studies, I also have personal lived experience. I am also an award-winning indigenous business. As an Indigenous woman, I am greatly impacted by all of the issues that I am sharing with you and discussing.

Truth and Reconciliation: 94 Calls to Action Progress (as of July 3, 2023)

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission was formed as a means of reckoning with the devastating legacy of forced assimilation and abuse left by the residential school system. In June 2015, the commission released a report based on those hearings. From that came the 94 Calls to Action: individual instructions to guide governments, communities, and faith groups down the road to reconciliation.

Were you aware that it has been 8 years since TRC was released?

And within those years the government, communities, and faith groups have only completed 13 of 94 Calls to Action and 18 have yet to be started. Health, Child Welfare, and Education have nothing completed.

Let RAISE help you and your company to Recognize, Assist, Include, Support, and Engage Indigenous people and communities. RAISE offers various workshops, currently offering a workshop on Truth and Reconciliation.

What you'll get in my workshops is my personal lived experience, from an "INDIGENOUS WORLD VIEW" and an "INDIGENOUS LENS", of how colonialism and genocide affected my people and I.
